Hollywood: a Real Good Black is a Real Violent Black!

American Capitalist, By Peter Foster

"Frank Lucas was a murderer and a thief, albeit a charismatic one. He brought death and desolation to many thousands of people in, and beyond, the black community. His self-justification (which emerged in interviews with New York magazine's Mark Jacobson, on which the movie was loosely based) was that, as a black man, he couldn't even have gotten a job as a janitor on Wall Street. In fact, the movie The Pursuit of Happyness (sic) told the story of another black man, Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith), who not only overcame the toughest of conditions to make it on Wall Street, but wound up with his own brokerage company. Strangely, however, I can't remember the word "capitalist" ever cropping up in that inspiring film, although it certainly did in the reviews. The "right-wing" Daily Telegraph described it as a "thinly veiled apologia for rat-race capitalism." The Daily Mail described its "blind faith in the benevolence of capitalism" as "creepy."

The War on Poverty.

War on Poverty is top priority, Dion.

"Liberal leader Stephane Dion yesterday declared "war on poverty" in a major campaign-style policy announcement he vowed will create a "greener, richer, fairer" Canada."

It's about damn time. I am against poverty and of course, I've got the best and only solution. We should follow the successful Gun Registry program. Because the only way to get rid of something is by making it illegal, then you've got a guarantee; if the government says it's solved the problem, the problem is solved.

We need to start building trenches and bases now, also known as employment centres and highways to nowhere.

"The cost of doing nothing, which is the Harper plan, is far, far greater than the cost of investing in Aboriginal Canadians."

It's about time we started investing in aboriginal canadians. I suggest an investment pool of some sort, maybe a hedge fund. A fund manager will pick Natives to give money to, like venture capital. When the native gets rich and becomes famous (i.e. goes public) we'll sell our share of the Native, reaping capital gains!! I hope the manager is a value investor, perhaps a balanced manager. I suggest the Dogs of the Dow theory, we'll pick the ten worst and hope their value rises.

"Though the British government was often criticized for not meeting its ambitious targets, he said it still made a lot of progress by setting benchmarks."

Perhaps a batting average? The uses of Sabremetrics are unknown in the field of poverty. Maybe BMI? The puffy can't be poor can they? If I know anything about how successful socialism is, 5-years plans have always turned out well and ahead of target; a Ukranian told me that i think. I mean, we all know how well politicians handle firm targets: by repealing them. I'm looking at you Fiberal!

Poor people should be registered. That way we know how many of them there are. Then we can grandfather them out of Canada. We'll ask the Americans not to let all their poor people to be smuggled across the border. They'll not even be allowed to be traded at convention centres or flea markets either.

If you want to become a poor person, you must take a safety test to make sure you really are poor. You'll have to take a course as well, poverty & me. You'll have to answer some skill testing questions like: what is the cause of your problems? Answer: Everyone else. If you have more than one kid with the same person, you're disqualified.

Anyone claiming to be poor but not a part of the program will be thrown in prison. Think of it as more of a waiting period before you're cleared because anyone that breaks the law must be a victim of poverty.

So when we 'Make Poverty History' will that mean it becomes a social science with all the perks of alumni, tenure and all the pressure for excellence created in the non-profit sector?

Why Jonathan Kay is not a Conservative, Part 1.

"A sad adieu to ye olde porn shoppe."

Hmm, off to an interesting start.

"It was last Thursday when I spotted the "for rent" sign in the window of the porn store around the corner from my house. It was a shock, I'll admit, to see this venerable neighbourhood institution empty and abandoned."

There goes the neighbourhood!

"Our local porn shop did more than sell DVDs of people having sex. Its mere presence kept the neighbourhood comfortably rooted in the middle-class realm. That's why part of me is going to miss it."

Forget social mobility, university education or high levels of literacy; porn keeps us anchored in the middle class! Someone tell Lou Dobbs. Maybe he'll let up on illegal immigration and focus on the real issues: Globalization and Outsourcing of local pornography. Those are good jobs providing good wages for middle class families! Is Jack Layton reading this? I see an NDP electoral issue on the way...

"Like just about everywhere else in Toronto, gentrification in my little area is assuming obscene proportions. "

"The porn store -- lodged in a stereotypically decrepit building -- struck a singularly authentic note of gritty urban realism amongst all this hyper-consumerist foppery."

OK, so gentrification bad and foppish. Writer from Montreal, living in Tony Toronto neighbourhood pining for the days of down the street porn, good? Is he married? Does his wife know he's writing stuff like this? Or was this her idea?

"Indeed, I found myself stressing its presence when I gave directions to visitors. My neighbourhood is saddled with the decidedly pretentious-sounding name of "Playter Estates," and mentioning this particular local business was a good way to disabuse friends of the idea that they were going to wheel up to some sort of Edwardian country house."

I think Shakespeare wrote: "Better thoust be perverted than pretentious".

"Then, in the 1980s, everyone got a VCR. The Piccadilly and its ilk became obsolete. No longer did men have to endure the frustration and indignity of watching porn in the company of other like-minded fellows -- they could simply buy the tapes and bring them home."

Damn you technology! Damn you all to hell! DAMN DIRTY TAPES!

"In 2007, the only men who still get their porn at the local XXX shop are in that vanishing demographic that's too old for the Internet and too young to call it quits altogether."

Why men are not verbal...

My Lesser Half

Sub-Commandante can no longer hide his illness. He has a terrible case of Split-Personality. Sub-Commandante is like Dr. Hyde: a skilled and respected professional. My Mr. Hyde has spun a whole story about being a young guy from London, Ontario now living in Edmonton. He is uncouth and uses words like Markets, Liberty, Price Mechanism and Observable Human Nature. Unfortunately, he has the passwords. So if you read a post that is skeptical of Collectivism please do the best thing and ignore him.

Movie Review-American Gangster

Didn't see the movie but I did see truth and beauty in the title alone. Based on the title, the movie must be a documentary. It appears to show how corrupt CAPITALISM is so it should win an Academy Award and a Noble Peace Prize. Comrades in Hollywood, let La Revolution continue!
